Summary

A very productive meeting all round. Each team member was assigned with a section of the presentation (see 01. The Team). Denise and Callan are happy to oversee the final technical edit of the wikipage, preparing it for the presentation. It was decided that each team member would speak for 3-4 minutes on their section. This would be accompanied by the Wikispaces site that would contain key headings, images needed for each section of the presentation.

Timeline

It was decided that each team member would have finished a rough draft of their presentation/presentation notes and put them on the wiki by Thursday. Ensuring that it was finished by Saturday

Team Meaning

The team will meet at 8am at the Computer Kiosk in Building 10, Jones St

Welcome to our 2nd Attempt for our group meeting online.BonjourHi DeniseSorry Callan - didnt realise you were already online! So there is 3 of us so far? I had a voicemail from Chris yesterday - but not sure if he can make it to this meetingAre we meant to talk online here now?I think so. I've never used thisThats good because neither have I and I am seriously starting to feel inadequate because I havent quite got the wikispace even thru thr traihello everyone, sorry, my alarm just went off. here I am.I wouldnt worry too much about the technical side of the wikispaces - I am happy to do the final fix up of the formatting etcIf we can get all the content sorted, and who is writing what, the technical side of things will be fineTotally agree about the wiki spaces, it really is about getting the ideas down.OK - so if I just type whatever section I get will that be enough for you to format technically?Yes, lets decide who is writing which part. I can also fix up things as well.Yep. As long as you got the basics - ensure you are signed in, click 'edit' top right hand corner. Type away. SaveDoes any one have a preference on what section?Great - I am happy to undertake whichever section you want - I dont have any preferencesI like the idea of the broader social, economic etc or the implications section?Implications for the practice of educators - I think I could work on that bitOk, I will do the broader social change.I would think that the broad social, economic section is quite bit - I also think that might suit Tania, offering an external perspectiveis quite big, I meant to say - maybe divide into social and economical and Denise and Tania work respectivelyHappy to do from an external perspective if you wantOk good, yes you are right callan, then I will do significanceSounds good. leaves Chris to clean up the bit on Change that he startedCould I also suggest that we should all feel free to add ideas for each section. Perhaps a model where everyone is in charge of a section......but not solely responsibleOk, I could do the significance and do a bit of educational broader perspective, just work in with tania.yes agree, we can certainly add in sections, that is good collaboration. So Summary: Identify the change: Chris Explain its signicance: Denise Broader context: Tania Implications for education/educators: CallanThe executive summary, we could just have our paragraphs in summary.Great summary Callan. Do we need to set a deadline? And the change we are talking about, is the Digital Education Revolution - the change in education post KRudd/Smith policySounds good - any chance I could get both your mobile numbers just incase I need to contact youYes DER policy, should we look at its NSW implementation policy for state schools, maybemy number is DL that is 0438540901DL? Mine is 0405225526ThanksDL is my initials, DOh! I am a bit blond sometimes.Tania, in terms of broader context, I would think you would be looking at the shift towards technology in Ed, particularly from a politicalOKThe political side you could branch out from the first assignmentI think we would also be looking at the shift towards 1:1 computing. Why is this the model that has prevailed?Significance: thinking about the change in thinking; 1;1 is part of it, the way learning and social networking etc.YepJust thinking: In terms of defininng the topic/scope. Perhaps something like the increased use of technology in high schoolsOk, I think that is good. How many words do you think our sections should be 750 words is 6 mins, approx. (I think)Just thinking about phrasing it in a way that doesn't assume that KRudd defined change. I think it was very reactionaryPresentation is only 15 mins and I think we get marked on timing as well as content so maybe 500 words each bewteen the 4 of us?We have 3-4 mins each. Also, I don't think we are marked on our writing??Not sure - would have to checkIn terms of presentations, I am an advocate of minimal text on screens - I don't like reading stuff out to peopleYes agreed, he saw DER as an economy. Ok, got it about the time. Yes 3-4 mins is such a small amount of time. Anyway, happy with that.yes, I agree about the text, on screen, definitely not, but if we have prepared our notes around that idea. Yes and no clipart!AgreedCool. So we need to check if our wikispaces site will be assessed - otherwise there is really no need to pretty it upI am thinking we would just reference the wiki, add images etc.. move down it, not powerpoint? ideas anyone. But writing up your 500 words on the site means we can all read up on each other's sections and know what everyone would sayI will leave that to you both as I haven't worked in wikispaces before -Yes agree, so we need to put it all on the wiki. Wikis can have links to things etc.Leave it to the two of you to decide I meant!to be honest, I am not sure how important the visual side of the presentation will be - As long as it isn't as tacky as the other groupsPerhaps a simple Prezi - basic headings and/or images if neededI dont do tacky Callan!Ok. Wont be tacky! But succinct and clever is good. We need to make sure Chris is on track.Ha ha, good to hear. Those groups last time were ridiculous! And they also went for far too long.I did think of a prezi, however, I like being able to show the wiki as a good group collaboration depository!Callan can you make sure Chris is on track as you seem to have the relationship?Yeah, I will contact himYes totally agree about the longness of the other groups! not good.Denise although I registered for Prezi, have never used it - this is a HUGE learning curve which is good.I have never used Prezi myself - although lots of my students use it - they love itFunny you should say about learning curve, I learnt the most in the whole course in group project with AnneBB, fantastic.OK maybe that means my sons have used itI use prezi all the time! you can actually have a group prezi, but have a time life.So as for our presentation: Perhaps (and I am happy to volunteer) we could work on turning the wiki into a more visual websiteOk so do we use wiki or prezi (I did like your thought that wiki indicates group collaboration)Just a basic home page, that links to the various sections with key headings/images for each section should sufficeYes that sounds good.I can do the prezi based on the groups stuff, and then send out the link for all to edit later. However, yes lets make the wiki great! The wiki is a webpage essentially, yes lets just make it look good that way.Alright. I am going to put this transcript, and a summary on the wiki now. As well as contact Chris and make sure he is up to speedSorry that I am not up to speed so I will be typing and hoping you will do the techo stuff Callan - is that OK?Yep, I am fine with that. Tania, just edit the relevant sectionOKOk, that is good callan. I will add my stuff and set up the executive summary, I have put all the links to other pages on the home.Alright. I think this will be good.Tania, you will be amazed at how quickly you get used to working on the wiki, quite easy.Ok good to go? Did we set a deadline?Cool - I am quite enjoying the additional learning from this subject! Are we meeting at 8am next Sat as well?Timeline: Everyone should have done a rough version by Thursday. Ensured they're finised by Saturday morning?sounds goodok 8 am, might be a good idea, maybe at the gloria jeans? on george street? maybe? Finish draft by thursday, final by saturday morning.Gloria Jeans? isn't that Town Hall?Any chance we could meet at uni in the computer bay in building 10?Is there one near the uni? Uni would be better for me. Not a big fan of Gloria jeansIf we need to access computer then we have that facility at uniOk wrong coffee franchise. No worries, agreed building 10 computer kiosk. Good. Locked in!Sounds good to me - those computers just at the entrance on level 2?ok, yes that is the ones level 2 at the entrance. See you then. Otherwise see you all in cyberspace.excellent! Hope I wont have to bug either of you this week but thanks for mobile numbers just incase - yes computer kiosk just on the rightNo dramas if you need to contact - I check my email regularly as wellHappy to help tania!see you all, go the wallabies!cool - thanks for this - speak to you this week and see you both next SatYes, it is Rugby time!Au revoirbye
